The product provides GEOS-5 Forward Processing for Instrument Teams (FP-IT) fields interpolated to the OMI VIS horizontal grid on a reduced 47 vertical layering scheme (http://wiki.seas.harvard.edu/geos-chem/index.php/GEOS-Chem_vertical_grids). The original 72 GOES-5 layers were combined in the stratosphere while the troposphere was unchanged in order to refuce the file size. The native FP-IT model has a resolution of 0.625 degrees longitude x 0.5 degrees latitude while the OMI pixels have a resolution of 13km x 24km at nadir. The vertical resolution of FP-IT is preserved in the troposphere but degraded in the stratosphere.
